The peer review process is critical to maintaining the high standards of our journal, ensuring the publication of quality articles that contribute significantly to the field and thereby supporting the journal’s success.

Peer reviewers for TESOL Today work remotely on a voluntary basis and must be proficient in English. Their role involves thoroughly evaluating manuscripts and recommending whether a submission should be accepted as is, accepted with revisions, or rejected. Reviewers are expected to provide detailed, constructive feedback to support their recommendations, referencing relevant literature to assist the editorial team in their decision-making and to aid in communication with authors. Moreover, reviewers play a crucial role in upholding the integrity of the journal by being vigilant for any signs of misconduct, such as plagiarism, and reporting these concerns to the editors.

The criteria for becoming a peer reviewer for TESOL Today include:

  • Holding a PhD degree in fields related to language education, applied linguistics, language policy, curriculum design, or any other relevant area of TESOL from an accredited institution.
  • Having a publication record with a minimum of 3 articles in reputable, peer-reviewed journals in the field of English language teaching, or applied linguistics.
